Jeff Logan and Juli Wells were the founding pastors at SouthGate Baptist Church and fifteen years later they are set to lead the renaming and relaunching of that congregation as NewGate Baptist Church. Jeff came to faith in Christ in his 20s and was called into ministry in his early 30s after a career in Human Resources consulting and teaching at universities and colleges in Southeast Asia and Canada. Juli was raised in the Christian faith and became a Christian at a young age. She felt God’s call on her life into full-time ministry in her university years.

Jeff and Juli have been married for 30 years and are the parents of 5 awesome kids and an amazing grandson. They have called Calgary home for 25 years, but have lived across Canada (4 provinces and 1 Territory) and had the opportunity to travel and work extensively around the world (North America, Europe, Israel, and Asia). Juli and Jeff love being able to serve the church and take great delight in the multicultural aspect of NewGate. They truly believe that the Church is strongest when it is culturally and ethnically diverse. Juli and Jeff love to meet their neighbours and be involved in their community through sports, neighbourhood events, and service.

JEFF LOGAN, PHD

Jeff is the Teaching Pastor at NewGate Baptist Church. Jeff oversees the teaching and outreach ministries and works with the Leadership Team. Prior to founding NewGate, Jeff served as a pastor of international ministries and was a partner in a consulting company that focused on Aboriginal interests.

Jeff also teaches in the areas of Indigenous literature, Anthropology and Communication Studies. Jeff holds degrees in Anthroplogy, Linguistics, Ethnography and Leadership.

JULI WELLS

Juli is the Pastor of Family Ministries at NewGate which includes everything from Nursery to Young Adults and the adults that engage with them! Juli devotes part of her time to writing Bible Studies that are used by the entire congregation and in the special care home where she serves as the pastoral care director.

Prior to NewGate, Juli served as the denominational leader for Youth Ministry with the Canadian Baptists of Western Canada. Juli’s educational journey has taken her to the University of Regina, Canadian Theological Seminary, Prairie Graduate School and most recently The Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary.
